The Panthers played their first league match yesterday against London
Scottish. Despite the boys playing some fantastic rugby they were
sadly beaten. I don't want to dwell on why we lost, all of the boys
and parents who were there know what happened and there was nothing we
could have done differently. What I want to do is to celebrate the
brilliant effort put in by all of the boys.

From the moment we arrived the boys carried themselves with dignity
and in style. It was great to see the new team members slotting in
effortlessly as though they have been Twickenham players for years. As
usual some of our opponents were huge, however, we were more than a
match for them and our tackling and defence was outstanding! In
particular there were some ground shaking tackles from Ben, Callum,
Alistair, Sam, Alfie and Wes. Ellis's late fly hack should have
resulted in a winning try, it was a clever kick and shows that forwards
do have brains. Despite play being constantly halted Miles, Alistair,
Jack, Sam, Deano, Paul and George had some great runs. The pack were
excellent and even though Scottish's pack were much bigger we held our
own and even managed to win some of their scrums, well done to all of
our forwards, in particular Kieran, Luke, Darren, Ali, Thomas and
Duggie! It was great to see that our try was a real team effort, even
though the ball was grounded by Callum there was a number of the boys
involved and Alistair kept his head to convert the try.

The way that the boys played yesterday was fantastic and I am truly
proud to say that I am your coach. Well done to everyone and you have
a lot to live up to, you've set the bar really high!
